At Home Sweet Home, regular house cleaning in Edinburgh is our main service. Most of our clients choose a weekly or fortnightly visit and build a long-term arrangement with the same reliable cleaner who gets to know their home and routine.

How Much Does a House Cleaner Cost in Edinburgh?

Our pricing is simple and transparent. Payment is split into two parts:

1. Cleaner’s hourly rate

Your cleaner is paid directly for the hours they work. Our current minimum cleaner rate is £14.50 per hour. Cleaners keep 100% of their wages.

2. Home Sweet Home membership

You pay a simple monthly membership fee to Home Sweet Home. This covers all administration, insurance, customer support, and ongoing management of your service. There are no hidden extras for ironing, oven cleaning or similar tasks completed within your booked time.

You will receive a clear quote before anything is confirmed.

How Long Does House Cleaning Take?

The time required depends on the size and condition of your home.

As a guide:

• A standard 2-bedroom property typically requires around 2-3 hours per visit.
• Larger homes, or properties with pets, smokers or heavier build-up, may need additional time.

We will recommend a realistic number of hours based on your property and how often you would like cleaning.

Our Our aim is consistency. Once the right number of hours is agreed, your cleaner follows a regular routine based on your priorities.

How the Sign-Up Process Works

Step 1 – Complete the short sign-up form
Tell us about your property, preferred days and any specific requirements.

Step 2 – We confirm your quote
Our Edinburgh-based team will review your details and confirm the recommended hours and pricing.

Step 3 – We match you with a cleaner
We share your requirements with our cleaning team and invite those who are a good fit to express interest. This usually takes a few days. Once confirmed, we provide their details and start date.

Step 4 – Regular cleaning begins
You have the same cleaner each visit. We check in with you after the first few cleans to ensure everything is running smoothly.

What Your Membership Includes

Your Home Sweet Home membership provides:

• A vetted, reference-checked cleaner
• Public liability insurance for accidental damage
• Insurance cover for loss of keys
• A replacement cleaner if required
• Holiday and sickness cover where available
• Ongoing office support and communication
• Ironing included within your booked time
• Access to trusted local trades (carpet cleaning, window cleaning, handyman and more)

There is no minimum contract.

Cleaning Products and Equipment

To achieve the best results, we ask customers to provide cleaning products and equipment. Your cleaner will bring cloths, gloves and basic consumables.

You will need to supply standard household items such as:

• Multi-surface sprays and disinfectant
• Bathroom cleaner and cream cleaner
• Kitchen cleaner and oven cleaner
• Glass cleaner and floor cleaner
• Vacuum cleaner (a reliable model is essential), mop and bucket, toilet brush and basic tools

Important Service Notes

• Please inform us if you have pets, as some cleaners have allergies.
• Cleaners do not move heavy furniture or use ladders at height.
• Work is limited to inside your property (not communal stairwells or external areas).
• Carpet, upholstery and mattress cleaning require specialist contractors.
• Use of bleach is not covered by our insurance.
